The Significance of Ghorakhal Temple

Ghorakhal Temple is dedicated to Golju Devta, revered as the divine dispenser of justice. Devotees write their wishes and prayers on paper and submit them as petitions. The Legend of Golju Devta

The story of Golju Devta traces back to the Katyuri dynasty of Champawat. King Jhalrai had seven queens but no heir. Upon consulting astrologers, he was advised to marry an eighth queen to have a son. One night, the king had a vision of Goddess Kalinka meditating on the Nilkanth Mountain. Following this divine revelation, he married Kalinka Devi, who later gave birth to a son named Golu.

The Mysterious Birth of Golju Devta

The other queens, envious of Kalinka Devi, conspired against her. They replaced the newborn prince with a blood-stained stone and abandoned the infant in a cowshed filled with wild cattle. Miraculously, the cows nurtured the child, feeding him milk and protecting him. When the truth was revealed, the king recognized Golu as his rightful heir and declared him the deity of justice.
